Swedish Beauty Haul

Ever since my best friend took off and moved to Gothenburg, I have been beyond excited to take a trip to see her. I had never been to any Scandinavian countries, but have always been completely in awe of their effortlessly cool style. It’s safe to say I took full advantage of the amazing shopping in the city, and in this I post I wanted to share with you my rather spendy beauty haul…

One place I knew I had to go to during my time in Gothenburg was Sephora. For us UK beauty junkies this is ultimate makeup heaven, and I always somehow end up spending a small fortune. Firstly I picked up the Sephora Konjac Cleansing Sponge as the one I had been using was starting to look a little suspect. I love using these sponges with my cleansers as I find that they help clear up my skin and give a little added exfoliation. I also picked up the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask which I have been meaning to try for the longest time. It smells like fruit cake and leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth.

I’m on a little bit of a liquid lipstick kick at the moment (who isn’t) so I picked up two in Sephora. The first was the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita II. They didn’t have the full range in store, but this one really caught my eye. It is a ‘terracotta nude’ and makes for a perfect everyday shade. The other lipstick I chose was the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 10 Mandarin Muse. I have the shade Always Red which is one of my favourite liquid lipsticks, so I knew I had to pick another up. Mandarin Muse is a stunning vibrant orange. And what is Sephora without the freebies? They popped in a mini Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask which I am really excited to try and my ‘birthday’ gift of a stack of Sephora lip glosses.

The next shop that I was highly recommended to check out was Kicks. It’s quite similar to Sephora but has a a lot more affordable and Swedish brands. The first thing I instantly grabbed was the Sachajuan Ocean Mist which I have wanted for the longest time. You can get this online in the UK, but it worked out far cheaper to buy whilst I was in Sweden. This may be my favourite purchase of my trip and I have been using it almost every single day. It provides natural looking textured waves and with my pin-straight hair that can be hard to achieve. I think picked up a product from a brand that came highly recommended from my friend, Isadora. I decided to try out the Bronzing Powder in Matte Tan, as I fell in love with the smooth texture when swatching.

I also popped into H&M on the main shopping street and was pleasantly surprised by the beauty hall. I went to browse the NYX counter and saw the Matte Liquid Liner which I had wanted to pick up for a while but could never find it in the new UK stands. I have to say that on first impressions, I think I’m going to love this product.

The final brand I knew I wanted to look at was Makeup Store. I used to love the shop on Carnaby Street but since that shut down I was even more excited when I saw the counter in Gothenburg. I decided to try the Gleam Dream in Rose which is a stunning cream highlight. It leans more champagne and looks stunning either on its own or layered under a powder highlight for a really intense glow. The final thing I bought on the trip (admittedly an impulse airport purchase) was the Makeup Store Liquid Foundation. This looked so glowy on the back of my hand and the colour selection was amazing, so I couldn’t help myself…

Although my bank balance was a *little* dented after this trip, I am beyond excited to try out all my Scandinavian goodies. And there’s nothing like a little haul to get you all inspired about makeup again. Let me know your latest purchase and enable each other below!
